Live Painting to Bass

Listen to this:  Ghostek- No Way Out

Place: Subduction, Seattle.

Goal:  Live painting.

This post is far after the event ever happened.  I was asked by a friend to do a collaboration on a painting.  I started it off before passing it to the next player.  This is the documentation of my time warp.  I cant say how long it took me, but I started before the party did.  When I turned around there was and entire warehouse filled with people below me.  Every time I've been back people call me "Artist Lady."

I found this sign sitting below one of my paintings late in the night, thank you to whoever that was :)

This is many hours into the night when my co-lab partner was ready to start working, so I passed it along and went to join the fun.

The next day we were continuing the party somewhere outdoors.  Never really painted, but instead joined the celebration.  Favorite part of the trip.  Making mud balls with an eight year old for hours by the river.

Ciliate Baby

I'm very happy to be a part of this amazing event now four years running.  It started as a good-bye party in a parking garage, and has now grown into an art collective that is traveling to festivals.  Ciliate Art Gallery supports visual art, wearable art, performance, and music coming out of Vancouver B.C.  I am honored to know such a fantastic, loving, and supportive group of people.

All thanks goes out to Vasho Photography for having a beautiful vision.

Really Good

There are certain people that I make it my business that I must go see them.  Next time I am in Europe, it will be him.

People who I have skipped town just to see them play a show:
2009:
Bassnectar
Glitch Mob
2012:
Gaiser
2013:
Bonobo

The next two on my list:
Nicolas Jaar
Extrawelt
(2013?)

On another note, this would have been possible to see Nico at this years Lighting in a Bottle festival, (Temecula, CA) but I am already arranged to be at my dear friends wedding!  Bad timing I suppose.  It must mean that I need to see him in a smaller venue.

I was asked by one of the promoters for the event to cover the festival.  Yes, I had to turn down a free ticket.  And yes, I will still rant and rave to anyone who will listen about how cool this event will be, and that you must go.  Here is a teaser:

I'm pretty sure I'm loosing my mind just thinking that I'll miss it.

Ode to the Dance Floor

I've been going to festivals since I was 14. It started with Reggae on the River for 3 years, then Northwest Reggae the following. By the time I was living in Canada, I made it out to a magical place in Nelson called Shambhala. The Next year I went to 3 more festivals including Shambhala and Soundwave. I then was only able to make it to Soundwave the next year, and in 2011 I made it to none. It was a sad time, especially during the weekend of Basscoast. I spent the whole weekend in discontent looking up towards the Canadian mountains from my house on a hill with the feeling I wasn't where I was supposed to be. But as time passes all you can do is let it go.

Still, because of these many experiences, I will forever be changed. There is a whole universe to be discovered along the west coast of communities of people that come together on a selected weekend of the year. Since then, I've felt unconditional love.

There really is nothing else out there quite like it.

There is many people I know and love in this video, they are all more wonderful then you could ever imagine.
